Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta was left extremely satisfied with another three points secured against Wolverhampton Wanderers yesterday.
And as well as some brilliant pieces of skill by the likes of Martin Odegaard and Bukayo Saka, Arteta was delighted to see the rewards of hard work in training.
Speaking in his press conference after the game, Arteta said that Gabriel Martinelli’s industry against Wolves was no surprise.
The Brazilian winger was praised for one particular episode of running towards his own box – covering for a lapse from Oleksandr Zinchenko.
And Arteta claimed he actually did the exact same thing in Friday’s final training session.
He said: “To summarise it you have to see yesterday’s training session because he did exactly the same and I put the video of it because it’s incredible.
“The mentality and how much they want it and it was matchday plus two and minus one and they wanted to do it yesterday so I had no doubt that today they were going to do it.”
Of course, Martinelli’s moment did typify a very resolute Arsenal display all round, one now built on a very solid foundation.

Although not often mentioned after the game, it did seem to be a particularly strong evening for David Raya.
It still shouldn’t be underestimated just how much pressure each 90 minutes he plays for the club is under.
And as well producing some strong saves. Arteta will be very satisfied with how Raya set the tone with his passing at the back.
The goalkeeper’s all round display was very reassuring, and Arsenal’s spine is now looking stronger by the game.
And whilst there were some real positives at the back, Kai Havertz was actually full of praise for one of Arsenal’s attackers.
The forward thought Gabriel Jesus was outstanding, and the best striker he’s played with in his career thus far.
It’s certainly all seeming very positive at the Emirates right now.
And as well as a tough trip to Kenilworth Road on Tuesday, Arsenal will need to channel this positivity into their prep for a trip to Aston Villa next weekend.
